Curriculum Development

Trained as a scholar of modern and contemporary visual cultures, I apply a multi-modal and interdisciplinary approach to curriculum and course design.

With over a decade of experience in andragogy, I continue to hone my instructional design and eLearning development skills to deliver high-quality learning experiences to over 500 adult learners each year.

Process

  • Each learning experience begins with a story. By determining both the narrative of the experience and its objectives, I have a solid basis from which to build. As an avid logophile, this begins on paper before moving to such sites as Trello or Miro or software including the Adobe and Microsoft Office 360 suites for further development and feedback.

  • With a strong plan in place, I incorporate various learning materials to help each learner achieve the designed outcome. Often, I will adapt my refined outline or plan to a learning management system (LMS) module or use the Articulate 360 suite to create a basic story board.

  • In collaboration with various subject matter experts (SMEs), I continue to edit and create various components for the course. To adapt to the needs of diverse learners, I incorporate such multi-modal experiences as text, video, interactive components, audio, and self-guided tours of external sites into my courses. Written and verbal learner feedback indicates that these myriad strategies improve participant satisfaction and improve assessment outcomes.

  • The process of refinement is ongoing and reflexive; I choose to see each learning experience as a continually growing and changing project throughout its development. I most enjoy receiving learner feedback to continually improve all of my courses from 16-week long college classes to 5-minute tutorials.
